Sally Hansen Insta-Dri swatch and review

Hi ya'll! What's this? An actual blog post? Since when do I do those?

Haha, it's been a while hasn't it? I promise that's all going to change starting on the first of October. You'll be sick of seeing my posts by the end of October, I promise.

But that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is swatches! I was lucky enough to get some of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri fall collection colors. I'm pretty sure there's 8 in total, at least from what I could find about them, and the company was kind enough to send me six of the eight polishes in the collection. (yes, there's one missing in the preview collage. I didn't like how it photographed :( )

I'm going to start off saying, based on looking at the bottles, I would never pick up these colors on my own normally. From looking at the bottles, they look like boring frosty shimmers, blah and outdated. I don't know. I just normally prefer jellies/cremes/crellys/glitters and not frosty or shimmers. It just depends on the color sometimes. BUT, I'm rambling for real now. The point? By looking at the bottles these are nothing special and didn't wow me at all. Once they were on the nail though, that definitely changed enough that it made me want to pick up the last two to complete the collection if I were to see them when out.

Anyways, on to the swatches.

**These Polishes were sent to me free of charge for my honest opinion**

I loove this color so much. This is Chop Chop Copper and it appears in the bottle as a coppery brown with some golden shimmer. It's a bit on the lighter brown side though, not super dark. Nothing too special right? Right. But on the nail? Oh my god it's so pretty. It's really thin and sheer, this took three coats to get it to this, but it's sooo worth it! Just look at it! On the nail it's a little lighter than I expected, a golden light coppery brown. But the best part that I didn't notice til it was on the nail? There is pink glitter in there! Yes Pink and I just love that! There's also that golden shimmer you can see in the bottle and something else I didn't notice in the bottle? There's holo glitter bits in there! I am loving this color. As I already mentioned, this is three coats, no top coat.

This is Jet Set Jade which is my favorite of the six. In the bottle it just looks like a frosty green leaning teal color, which is, lets face it, again, nothing special and doesn't excite me at all. But on the nail? Oh man, I just can't get enough of it. It for some reason reminds me of a peacock but I'm not quite sure why. It goes on pretty dark, almost a black, but it's actually that teal color just, really dark, and all of the little glitters and foil type glitters show through. This one has a very foil type finish, it has green leaning teal glitters, and it's just so pretty I don't even know. I wasn't expecting to like this so much but I did. This is two coats with no top coat.

This is my second favorite of the six. This is No S-Pear Time and again, in the bottle it just looks like a frosty shimmer olive sort of green. Again, nothing special and the look of it doesn't excite me at all. but on the nail it came out soooo much better. It's a very pretty olive green foil finish, with so much golden shimmer when the light hits it just right. I don't even know what it is about this green but it just does something for me, I love the look of it. I normally don't like olive green on anything as it just looks puke-y but this is one that is very pretty and just the right olive green shade. This is two coats with no top coat.

This is Pink Fast And it's also a super pretty shade! This again in the bottle is nothing that excites me at all. There's so much silver shimmer and glitter showing in the bottle that it looks like it'll be a huge mess. But on the nail, it's a very pretty foil fuchsia shade. This one has the most foil finish of them all. You can see the silver shimmers in it but it doesn't over power the pink shade that's there like you think it would by looking at the bottle. I ended up really liking the way this one looked on the nail. Another huge plus? This is one coat with no top coat. No that's not a typo, I said one coat.

This is Quick Jeanius which is another favorite. This one was an even bigger surprise on the nail. Much like Pink fast in the bottle in looks like mostly silver shimmer/glitter and like it's going to be a huge mess with no color showing. It also looks like a dark denim blue. Then on the nail? That's a totally different story. When I put it on my nail I discovered it looked like more of a purple base with blue glitters, and those silver shimmers, which definitely do not over power the color. There's also a hint of lighter purple shimmer/micro glitter i'm not positive which it is. But then looking at the pictures, it looks like its blue with all those same things so I'm really not positive if it's a blue or a purple so we're going to call it a blurple. Is that okay? Okay good. Again just like Pink Fast this is one coat with not top coat. Yes, again, no typo there, a one coater.

This one is the last of the six, Red-io Active and is my least favorite of the bunch, mostly because I'm not a fan of red in general and this one here isn't exactly anything new or unique when it comes to red. It's the only one in the collection that has a shimmer/frost finish and looks in the bottle just like it does on the nail. And it wouldn't photograph right, so it gave me the most problems there. This is a true cherry red in real life, not at all the way it looks in the pictures, but it wouldn't come out right and no matter what i did while editing them, it just wouldn't look right. these look brush stroke-y on the pictures, but you couldn't see that at all in person. This is two coats with no top coat.

Because I forgot to mention when writing about each color, All of these have amazing formula and apply like a dream. Some of them as mentioned in the description of them are only one coaters, most are two. The only one I had some trouble with was Chop Chop Copper which was thinner than the others and a slight bit sheer, but with careful application and an extra third coat, that wasn't too big of a problem.

What do you all think of these colors? Let me know in the comments below!

  2. Eep! That's way too much for just one polish! Or I'm just cheap. Either way. lol. But chop Chop Copper is a really pretty polish and the pink glitters in it are an AMAZING touch to it.
