Splatter Nail art!

 Challenges are over, so posts will come less often for a bit. I think I'll take off challenges til the fall, probably around October, maybe I'll find a good Halloween challenge to join in on. Or host my own. We'll see what pops up around that time to see which I do. BUT ANYWAYS. Today I have a fun splatter look for you all to see. There's a few more pictures and I'll explain how I did it after the jump. 

Disney Nail art challenge day 26: Cars

Hello! Today's Disney theme is Cars! This is one I've only really seen parts of, and the only character I know from the movie really is Lightning McQueen. So I went with that. I started with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White on all the nails, then I used an La Colors mini in a reddish color to half the index finger diagonally and made a circle shape on the side of the pinky, then covered the entire ring and middle finger nails with the red. The other details are all acrylic paint, and all free handed, even the checkered pattern. Overall I think I'm pretty happy with how these came out.

Disney Nail art challenge day 24: Finding Nemo

 

Woo! Todays nails are Finding Nemo themed! And I had SO MUCH FUN doing these nails. They were extra fun. Nemo is another favorite of mine, and one that I could literally quote to you, word for word. I'm not even kidding a little bit at that. 

And I might be a little jealous of Dory and the fact that she can speak whale. Even if she doesn't remember she speaks whale. I'm also really excited for Finding Dory to come out as well. I've been waiting for YEARS for a second Nemo, and FINALLY they're doing one. Although this one is a little sad to do as well. Because the challenge is so close to being over now and I only have a few more left after this one. It's both exciting and sad. ANYWAYS. Back to the nails, haha. 

Disney nail art challenge day 23: Up!

 Today we have UP nails for the Disney nail art challenge. It's one of my favorites from the Pixar movies and I wanted to do SO much more with it, but well, the house and balloons are probably the most well known from the movie.

For this I used a base color of LA colors Meadow and then sponged on light blue acrylic paint over it. The rest of the details are also acrylic paints in various colors. I went with a sky and the house being floated up by the balloons! Now I really want to go watch this movie though and I think I just might do that.

Disney nail art challenge day 22: BRAVE

Todays theme is BRAVE! I actually had to watch this one to get ideas, I've never seen it even though I've been wanting to, I just haven't gotten around to it until now. On the index fingers the base color is Sinful colors Cinderella and the tip is LA colors Deluxe the white is acrylic paint. The base on the other fingers is LA colors Meadow, and the rest is acrylic paints. I took my inspiration from her dress, the witch she gets the spell from (the cauldron on the middle finger) and her horse. (Ring finger. YES that's suppose to be a horse :| he was hard to figure out because he's such a dark color.) and the pinky is also a play on her dress.

extra relaxed 31 day challenge day 16: Tribal print

Today's theme was tribal nails for the ER31DC, and I'm definitely much happier with these than my first attempt at tribal nails, but this is still only my second attempt at it so I still have plenty of room to improve and keep trying to get better at it. I kept it simple with only three colors. The base is la colors sea foam and the rest is acrylic paint. It was all done with a striping brush and a dotting tool. It's really simple to do, but easy to mess up because there's so many little details. But there's so many ways and different patterns you can use to do this. You could probably find an even simpler one than I came up with.

Disney nail art challenge day 20: Toy Story!

Yayy! We've made it to the pixar movies! Some of my favorite disney movies are Pixar animation. And Toy Story is one of THE best and the original pixar movie. And one of the only movies ever to have not only one, but TWO awesome sequels that were just as good as the first one. Love them. But anyways. 

For these nails I started with la colors meadow on my index and pinky fingers. On the middle i used a white mini from la colors, and on the ring finger I used sinful colors unicorn these are obviously inspired by two of the main characters from the movie, woody and buzz, and I added in the aliens from the pizza planet claw machine for fun because they're awesome!

Disney Nail Art Challenge day 19: Tiana!

Last of the princesses! Tiana from Princess and the frog. And to be quite honest, I haven't actually seen this movie. Sooo I just went with what I know. Princess tianas dress colors, and that there's frogs. haha. The base is la colors meadow and the tips are sinful colors unicorn and the rest is acrylic paint. I did a frog for the accent and the green of her dress. and I did some dotted lines along the rest of the nails just to fill them in a bit. I wanted to have the 'bee' nail type look. But I didn't feel like actually doing a bee or fly buzzing around, so I just did the dotted lines instead.

extra relaxed 31 day challenge day 14: Flowers.

Not my best at all. But I'm just not good at flowers. And then the damn seche vite smeared my DRY acrylic paint when I went to put it on and reminded me why I hate it so much. The base of this is la colors in the nude and the rest is acrylice paint topped with horrible seche vite. Ruining nail art everywhere. I don't know why I bother trying to use it anymore, probably cause I have an almost full bottle just sitting on my shelf going to waste.

Todays princess theme is Ariel from the little Mermaid. And this is the look I came up with. The base colors are la colors whipped on the thumb and ring finger and meadow on the other fingers. The rest of the details are acrylic paint. My favorite is probably the thumb. I love how it came out! It's obvs inspired by the mermaids hair. I'm not good at faces so I left the center part open and blank as a face but not really. I love how the little star in her hair came out. The ring finger is my second favorite. I didn't really like the way the 'scales' came out but I think over all it came out pretty good!

disney nail art challenge day 14: Mulan

Todays theme for the nail art challenge is Mulan. And tbqh, I've only ever seen Mulan once in my whole life. I'm not even kidding. I didn't even like it that much when I seen it if I remember right. I guess obviously not if I've never watched it again. Basically though. I remember nothing about it so I had to use google for inspiration this time. The base color on the accent nail is sally hansen green with envy and the base color on all the other nails is la colors meadow and all other details are acrylic paints in various colors.

Disney nail art challenge day 11: Lady and the Tramp

Today is day 11 of the disney challenge and the last of the movie themes before we move on to the princesses. The theme is Lady and the tramp and I tried my hand at freehand character drawing again. From this angle it looks decent but I'm not all that happen with it. If I turn my ring finger and show all of it, the pups face is totally awkward and misshapen, haha. But like this it's fine so pretend i didn't point it out! :)

disney nail art challenge day 9: 101 dalmatians

Today is day 9 of the disney challenge, there's only two more after this of the movie section of the challenge and then we're on to the princesses! Can't wait actually. Today we have 101 dalmatians as a theme and I came up with this simple white with black spot mani. The white is sinful colors, snow me white  funny, the name of the color fits with the theme, wasn't even on purpose. The blue on the thumb is la colors aquatic, live is the silver used for the colors, and the other details are all down with a tooth pick and acrylic paint. I'm actually pretty happy with how these turned out.

Disney nail art challenge day 7: The lion king

Day 7 of the disney nail art challenge, and the them is the lion king. I looove the lion king! It's always been my favorite movie, and this mani didn't turn out as I hoped, I should have stuck with the african sunset and the middle finger lion head thingy, haha. BUT, I started with white on my pinky and pointer finger, did a red to orange gradient with acrylic paint over that. Then used la colors deluxe on the ring finger and used acrylic paint to paint simbas face or what was suppose to be simbas face :| And on the middle finger is an off red polish with sinful colors cloud 9 over it to give it kind of a coppery look, and then the details are done with acrylic paint.

disney nail art challenge day 6 - bambi

Day 6 of the disney nail art challenge! Already! And todays theme is bambi. And I decided I'd try my hand at painting on a character again. I think the first attempt was better to be honest, but this turned out so cute! I used two coats of la colors whipped on all fingers except middle finger which i used two coats of sally hansen green with envy and the flowers and details of Flower are all acrylic paints in various colors.

disney nail art challenge day 5: Beauty and the Beast

Today is day 5 of the disney challenge, and the theme is beauty and the beast. For today, I tried drawing a character on my nails without a tutorial for the first time. This was done just looking at a picture of the little tea cup from the movie. And for not having a tutorial, I think it came out pretty neat. As my base colors, I have la colors bliss, lost soul, meadow, and daisy, in that order, and for the thumb, i have wet n wild tickled pink, and everything else is acrylic paint. I have Chip the tea cup on my middle finger, and for the others, I just did various designs in colors I used on chip to help bring out those colors more. All in all, Not my favorite, but definitely pretty good if you ask me.

And just for fun, this was me trying to figure out on paper exactly how to paint him the night before i did my nails. I think he came out better on the paper than on my nails.. but I think the problem on my nails was that i either made him to wide, or too short. oh well.
