Born Pretty Store Loose Glitter!

Hi y'all! These are the last of the Born Pretty Store items for right now! And plus I tried out water marbling again! Aren't they just so neat looking? Amaaazing. I love a water marble look and since I discovered the easiest way EVER. to do one, I will be featuring them SO much more. At least given that I find polishes that work and cooperate with the water! But anyways, onto the point of this post.

For this look I used Sinful Colors Tempest and Innocent. and the water marble decal method.

The glitters are the born pretty store product I have to show you, these little 2mm loose round glitters. I got them in 8# which is a bright neon yellow, (even if they look slightly green here. Think highlighter yellow) and they were really fun to play with even if I suck horribly at glitter placement.

These are about the same as applying any other loose glitter, so if you suck at placement like I do, these won't be your best friend. (They're def not mine, but I won't get better if I don't try right?) The color was very bright and vibrant, the color of the polish underneath didn't change it at all. And there was no bleeding with the top coat or anything like that. So these would be great if you like to play with loose glitters!

You can get these right here, they come in a little jar, there are several colors to pick from, and they sell for around $1.78!

Water marbling made easy! SAY WHAAAT?

Do you love the look of water marbled but hate the mess and hassle of doing them? Or maybe you ALWAYS end up with globs of polish that never dries, ruining the perfect water marbled design when you dip in your finger, or you get those pesky water bubbles in the ONLY nail that actually turned out right?!

Yeah, I've been there. All of it. And you're going to want to continue reading this post if you have too! I can't actually take full credit for the idea. I don't think many other people do it yet, but I seen a video on instagram (I can't remember who is was, sorry!) and thought it looked interesting so I just HAD to try it! And there is also this post here from Oooh Shinies. but other than those two things, I have never ever seen this technique before. And I definitely tihnk more people should know about it!! I know I for one... will be doing SO MANY more watermarbles now! I love them and hate doing them. This makes them much easier to do! Click the read more jump to see more!!

Let It Snow Winter Challenge; Water Marble

Hi y'all! Another challenge day! and todays theme is water marble. My water marble sort of failed and I didn't want to post them. But I also didn't want to redo them either. I hate that whole mess of a process and I was frustrated already so no way was I attempting to redo them. SO I thought, how can I make them look decent? And ta-da! Zebra print! I left my favorite alone as an accent and used some black acrylic paint and a small nail art brush to make the zebra print. Problem was solved!

I used Wet N Wild Teal Slowly And Fall and A Blank Canvas for the water marble, black acrylic paint for the zebra stripes, and NYC matte top coat to make the whole thing matte.

Let me know what you think in the comments below and check out everyone elses water marble manis as well!

Water marble wednesday!

Hi y'all! I've been slacking a little on the water marble Wednesday's. I've just been blah and uninspired to do water marbles, and then everytime I sit down to do one, it just doesn't come out right. But I swear to you, I'm going to try to get them out more often from now on. Let's say at least once a month from now on? More often depending if I'm feeling it or not.

This week is a little different though. This week I've teamed up with Polished by Audison to do a water marble Wednesday collab of sorts. And the ~theme we decided on was flowers. what that really meant was, we were sticking to the basic flower design of water marbling, but I took it just one step further and included flowers on my nails as well!

For this I started out with two coats of Sinful Shine Spitfire on all my nails. I used Wet 'N' Wild Wild Shine in Teal slowly and See, Listening to Blue Reed, and Who Is Ultra Violet? for the water marble on the middle and ring fingers. Let me just say by the way, these color's worked AMAZINGLY for water marbling, and I just love how they looked together. For the remaining fingers, I used a dotting tool, the purple from the water marbling, and LA Colors Bliss for the flowers. This are super simple and fun, and I just love how they turned out for once! I can't wait to keep getting better at this technique, it just makes for some super fun nails.

Be sure to check by Ashley's blog over at Polished by Audison to see what she does for water marble Wednesday. This girl is awesome at water marbles so you definitely won't be disappointed at all if you do!

Water marble Wednesday Fourth of July edition!

Water marble Wednesday again, already?! Today is a bit special for my water marble though as I've included the fourth of July in with it. I know it's not til tomorrow, but my Disney challenge posts then, so you get Fourth of July a day early.

Something else they tie into also, is my Uncle passed away over the last weekend, and his birthday would have also been on the fourth so it kind of works for both occasions.
For the water marble I used a base of Milani's Pearl Glaze and I used Sinful Colors Endless Blue and LA Colors Festive for the actual marble. I used those same red and blue colors on all the other nails to make a gradient as well. Then I found a star on one of my stamping plates and used Sinful Colors Snow Me White to stamp over the gradients. But just saying, I really, really really suck at stamping. It never works out well. But ah well.
My thumb is the one that stamped the best but it still isn't really good at all and not even close to being center.

What did you think of these? Let me know in the comments below!

Water marble Wednesday!

wet n wild i need a refresh mint retro mint la colors wisteria sinful colors snow me white water marble
So, I skipped water marble Wednesday last week because I was sick the week before that and I didn't feel like doing much of anything with my nails. Definitely didn't feel like dealing with the mess of water marbling to get ahead and have one all set up to post last week. But I did promise I'd bring it back this week with another water marble, so here we are! Just click the jump below to see more and find out how I did these nails.

Water marble Wednesday!

This weeks water marble was actually kinda hard to get done. The polishes just didn't want to cooperate. BUT I did manage to get this, not the greatest, but I like the way it came out. I used a base coat of Sinful Colors Snow me white and water marbled with LA Colors Meadow and Whipped. Click the jump below if you'd like to see a couple of fails while i was trying to get the polishes to work out.

Water marble Wednesday!

Okay, I wanna start doing a new weekly feature here for a while. I may not even do it every week myself but I'm gonna try!

First off, I LOVE the look of water marbles, but I can never quite do them just right. I always try to 'draw' the design in the water too much and the colors all mix together and it just looks like.. grossness once it's on the finger. OR I don't do that, actually get a good design, and then my finger placement sucks.

So, what I wanted to do was give myself a reason to do them more often so that I can get the practice and hopefully get better at doing water marbles. I've been avoiding them like the plague because of how messy they are and well.. if the results are exactly satisfactory then all that work and mess is for nothing, right? Right. But I want to change that so I'm going to try doing them more and this gives me the PERFECT reason to. Awesome. I'd also like anyone else that likes doing water marbles or wants more practice to join in as well, whether you post your own blog post for them, or you hop over to my facebook page and just post a picture on the wall. I'd love other to participate! Blog links are welcome on the facebook wall as well if you'd like to do both a blog and post on the wall.

This is my first attempt at water marble for water marble Wednesday. It's not my first water marble at all, and I think I'm getting much better even without doing them often at all. The only one I'm not really happy with is the ring finger and that has to do with placement I think because I like the was the design is on the finger but the blueish color got too sheer or something towards the left side there. Other than that I was really happy with these.

As a base color I used Sinful colors Unicorn, and the water marble colors used are LA colors Meadow, Daisy, and Bloom. I really loved the colors together and they worked perfectly for this. The only reason I used Unicorn instead of Daisy as the base was because Daisy takes three coats to be streak free while Unicorn is perfect in two coats so it was easier. They're very similar colors but Daisy is just a touch brighter.

What do you all think of these water marble nails? Will you be joining in for water marble Wednesday?

flip flop february day 3: Water marble/dry marble

so! Day three of the flip flop February Challenge, and day three is water marble/dry marble. I was going to do both. Or do a mix of diff marbling techniques I know of, but, that didn't really work out. As soon as I tried to do dry marble, everything just smudged together and scrapped off and blah. Probably should have let the base color dry better. Everything kept getting in my way and smudging my nails too, this always happens with water marbles, it's a huge mess for me. so we're just going to pretend that those bumps and smudges aren't there in the pictures, okay? Okay.

Also, There's no tutorial this time as I'm sure most of you know how to water marble, and if not, there's plenty of videos/tutorials for it so.

I'm not including pictures of my right hand this time either, it's the one i tried the dry marble on, and also i jabbed my nail with the toothpick while it was still in the water so.

I just did accent nails again too, to avoid a bigger mess than needed. Hate the mess of water marbling. And okay, I'll shush now, apparently I have LOTS to say about this one, haha. On to the nails!

we're ignoring the smudges on my middle finger.
First as usual, lets give a list of things used:
  • Sally Hansen in Envy
  • Sinful colors in cloud 9
  • Sinful colors in Happy Ending
  • LA colors rapid dry top coat
  • and obvs water, a bowl for the water, and i have a marbling/dotting tool that came with my brush set i used to swirl the colors but toothpicks also work

I like the way my thumb came out best. and again, we're ignoring those smudges. I kept bumping them trying to get the marble done, and got tired of redoing them, so I just gave up and left them. Water marble is really not my thing.
