Sally Hansen - Quick Brick

Hi y'all! Sally Hansen recently sent me their newest Insta-Dri shades for the summer to review! I have this red, a blue and a white. First up I'm posting these red nails using Quick Brick and I just had to do a little something to spice up the swatch! 

The formula on this polish was great! It was pretty well covered with just one coat, the second coat was mostly needed to smooth everything out and make sure the color was even! This isn't a true "Red" polish though. It looks almost like one in the bottle in certain lights, but on the nails it dries a little darker than a true red, and it's just a shade or two off. I don't know how to explain it? Red to me, is red. It looks horrible on me so I hate it, haha. But I don't know, this color had a more blue undertone maybe? Or something? It reminds me of the 'Strawberry Red' Crayola crayon. Looks red when you grab it... til you draw with it and realize is the wrong red. It's a great color though and easy to apply if you like the color! 

As for the strawberry accent, it was all done using acrylic paints and my newest nail art brush from bornprettystore. So much fun!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel review!

Hi y'all! I took last week off from the blog for reasons. I kept getting breaks in my nails and they needed a little time to start to grow out a little bit. I didn't want to be posting with total nubs! All the oldest breaks are growing out nicely though (pinky and middle finger) and even the newest (ring finger) is looking much better but wasn't as bad as the others to start with. I promise now though I'll try my best to keep a regular posting schedule! 

I was sent these polishes free of charge from Sally Hansen in exchange for a review. I got these three polishes plus a Miracle Gel Top Coat to use with them, and I had so much fun doing these swatches. Just click the jump to see them! 

Creations by Lynda Hope Springs Eternal Collection!

 Hi ya'll! I've got some new polish to share with you all today! These are all from Creations by Lynda and will be released within the next few days! And I highly recommend you run and grab them as soon as you can if you're looking for some new spring polishes to add to your collection!! There are six polishs total in the collection, 4 creme colors, and 2 glitter toppers and I just LOOOVED all of them so much. 

 First is April Showers which is described by Lynda as a blueish gray with a hint of purple and a slight shimmer from spectraflare. To me it's a purply blue.. kind of a periwinkle maybe? A pale dusty periwinkle. The second photo below shows it closer to the color it is in person, but my camera was having a hard time deciding if it was purple or if it was blue. This is two easy coats shown with no top coat. Application was easy and it dried quick. There was a bit of pulling on the first coat.. but that could have just been me, or possibly the mini bottle brush. It evened itself out just fine on the second coat easily enough though, so no big deal at all. If it weren't for that, I almost could have gotten away with just one coat with these! Also, I promise the shimmer is there in person, but it's very subtle and my camera just refused to pick it up. (same goes with all of these colors!)

LA Colors - Candy Sprinkles!

Hi y'all! Something SUPER exciting today! I finally finally FINALLY got this polish!! This is something I've been looking for, for well over a year now. I started seeing them pop up around christmas time 2013. And have been looking ever since. I'd pretty much given up hope that I would ever find my own bottle. Well, I was out shopping before Christmas, went to sallys for a few things and thought 'i'll run next door to family dollar cause I'm low on top coat..' Welp! Got in there and they apparently don't sell my top coat there anymore :( BUT, as I was ready to leave, defeated that I didn't get what I needed, I see a shelf of gift box sets, and individual polishes. Once I spotted the LA Colors display? I forget ALL ABOUT that top coat cause OMG a WHOLE SHELF full of Candy Sprinkles, that super hard to find color that I thought I'd NEVER get. But there it was! So of course I grabbed it up. (I should have took the whole shelf full, I know) and I grabbed one other one called 'Blue Icicle' which is basically the same thing.. but in blue. Such pretty colors! And while I don't do swatches here a lot of colors I bought myself, well.. I needed posts for the blog and as soon as I got home I just HAD to paint my nails with this, so here we are! 

For a short little review - I was ALMOST disappointed with how this looked in the bottle compared to pictures I'd seen. And even more so when I painted on the first coat; First coat was so sheer and had so little glitter I thought I was going to need 5+ of them to get full opaqueness. Then I did the second coat. And I FELL IN LOVE. It looked even better in person than in pictures! So so much better! Second coat cause total opaqueness and there was SO MUCH GLITTER. Much more glitter than I excited. I love it! Soo, this is two coats shown in the picture with one coat of Sally Hansen Instadri top coat. (The one in the red bottle)

Creations By Lynda Toil and Trouble Duo Review!

 Hi y'all! I have these two Creations By Lynda polishes to show you all today! These are from her limited edition Toil and Trouble Halloween duo and I loved them both so much! And no I promise I'm not just saying that ;) These were amazing to work with and the colors were perfect! 

The cost of these polishes are about $10 each or $20 for the set, the price is slightly higher than her polishes normally are due to the linear holographic pigments in them. The set also comes with a separate bag of black cat and orange pumpkin holo glitters.  But lets get started! 

Sally Hansen Miracle gel swatches!

Hi y'all! today I have three shades of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line to share with you all which were sent to me by Sally Hansen to try out and review here for everyone. I really want to grab some more of these colors to be totally honest! 

These were new for me to work with, I've never tried anything like them. The closest I've tried to gel is the Sinful Shine line of polishes which is not at all gel but just a gel shine effect. (Which aren't any shinier than other polishes if you ask me, but I don't get the craze of OMG IT'S SO SHINEYZ I NEED THE SHINY THINGS. So I don't see the shine as well as some of you do unless it's so shiny that it's really really obviously more shiny than another polish, lol) 

This line of polishes though, while they're not true gel polishes, they do not require a UV/LED lamp for curing. The top coat DOES have UV properties and as such, it's not recommended to use these polishes in direct sun or other uv light. The way they work, is the base or 'color' coat has one ingredient, and the top coat has another and when used together, it makes the color coat 'set' and dry. I did seem to have trouble with them drying on their own but pretty instant with the top coat. 

By the way, the top coat? While it's not a quick dry, it IS dry within a matter of minutes. And I've heard others mention that if you happen to have a lamp already, or want to sit out in the sun (if at all possible, winters coming, there might not be much sun!) for a minute or two, that it helps to set things and dry it even faster, though is totally optional. 

One thing I found a little odd about these polishes is even hours later, they don't feel fully dry. they're dry to the touch but they still feel slightly sticky and like they could dent. And in some cases, they can be dented but... they smooth themselves right back out!! Totally crazy right? I love how it was like this and that I could bump my nails against something and not worry about denting. So even if you use these and they still feel wet hours later, they're not! Totally dry, just squishy and dentable but fix themselves. And anyways, lets get on to the colors I got to show you all!

Hi y'all! I have some 4th of July nail art for you all today with some super cute firework nails going on, which is also doubling as a review for this Sally Hansen Color Frenzy Glitter Topper that the company sent me to review! 

This Mani didn't quite some out the way I hoped as the 'fireworks' didn't come out the way I wanted, but I really loved it other wise. And also? I am so tired right now while writing this, so please over look it if there are any spelling errors or anything like that. I think a nap is definitely on the schedule for today or I am never going to make it through. Anyways. Three shades from the Sally Hansen Rio Collection

Hi y'all! I have the rest of the polishes I received to share with you all today. Today I have three of the eight shades from the Sally Hansen Rio Collection which should be out now. These are all matte glitter toppers in various colors inspired by the Brazil city of Rio. They are all such pretty colors and combinations as well! 

 To start off we have Beach Ball which is a clear base with hex matte red, white, and blue glitters. I really wish these polishes were packed with more of the glitters to get more onto the nail, but I still love them as is. This color really reminds me of something for the 4th of July, so it'd be perfect for your july 4th Manis! These were a bit tricky to apply, there's quite a bit of clear base compared to the glitter and you have to do a lot of dabbing to get even glitter coverage on the nail and it ends up getting pretty thick on the nail if you don't do it just right, but I think the result is worth the trouble. This is just one coat over NYC Amazon Green and no top coat. 

Four Shades From the NYC City Samba collection!

Hi y'all! I have some nail polish to show you all from some new summer collections! Looved playing with these. Today I have the NYC polishes from the new City Samba Collection, and tomorrow I'll be posting the Sally Hansen Rio Collection Polishes. These colors were so pretty and I really hope you all like them as much as I did! 

 First up we have Amazon Green a frosty finish blue-green color. It really reminds me of a Cyan Blue. This shot I had to get in direct sun to get the closest to true color on it. My camera hates me lately and these bright colors, it doesn't love as much as I do. One thing I wish was different about this color is the finish, I wish it were just a shimmer, or even a plain ol' creme as the frosty finish I don't really like and it shows brush strokes. Which, it was really brush stroke-y with the first coat, by the second it worked itself out and didn't look as bad. This is two coats with no top coat. 

Marbles for Polish Review!

Hi y'all! I have some swatches to show you all today from Marbles for Polish, a rather new indie brand! She sent me three polishes to review for her, two full size, and one mini, and I'll just start off by saying that I definitely recommend her polishes! I had no issues with them at all and the colors are so cute. But lets just get to the pretty colors and look at them individually!

New Collection from Lacquered Bliss Polish

Lacquered Bliss Polish Swatchs

 Hi y'all! I have some indie brand swatches for you today! I've recently become a regular swatcher for Lacquered Bliss Polish which means I'm doing swatches for her store and get samples of her polishes sent to me. This time the package included full size bottles of her new years polishes, along with a mini set of polishes that will be releasing in January. I'll be showing you those as well but not until closer to their release, I think. But I DO have the new years polishes to show you today, which you can already find for sell in her shop.

First is my favorite new polish color. Not even kidding. This is Holo Day Party a minty greenish blue. This actually reminds me more of a Cyan blue than a minty green, but either way, whatever you would call the color, I LOVE it. It's so so pretty. There's shimmer to it, and theres little holo-y glitters in it. It's a little sheer, but applied and built up easy enough. Dry time is also AMAZZING on this one. This is three coats shown with no top coat. 

 Also, Lara asked if I could also swatch the polishes she sent me matte as well as they're own normal finish, so I thought I would include these as well just for fun. This is Holo Day Party with a Matte Top Coat. 

This one here is Take Charge and while I'm not loving it as much as the other one, I by no means hated this one, I'm just not big on these shades of purple. This is a medium-ish purple scattered holo polish. I really wish that my camera would pick up holo's much better than it does, but it actually did okay this time around. It's not overly holo, but theres just enough to add that holo sparkle and would be perfect for a new years night out. This one is also rather sheer on the first coat seems like it's going to take LOTS of layer to become opaque, BUT, that's not the case. It also had amazing dry time just like the first. This is three coats shown with no top coat. 

Again, the matted out version just for fun since Lara wanted Matte swatches as well. This is the same as above only with Matte Top Coat added. Don't ask why my pinky is more matte than the rest, I have no idea. I even tried a second coat on one other finger to see if it helped. Nothing happened. So my pinky just wanted to be special.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Polish Review

 Hi y'all! I haven't really been up to much or felt like doing much since my sweet little Foofy passed on. It's getting easier with each day though, I no longer wake up thinking 'oh, i have to get up, Foofy's going to be needing to pee and eat' which is exactly what I did the first several days. But no more of that, this isn't suppose to be a sad Foofy post. 

The point of this post is the polish in the picture. Sally hansen was super nice and sent me four of the new Triple Shine polish line they just came out with. I was actually going to grab a few more to throw in with this post while I was out over the weekend, but I seen the price and decided against it this time around. Maybe one day. 

This is the same shot as above but shows that before you can use this polish, the black square part of the cap pops off, revealing a normal polish top. These also have the flat wide brush like most of the other Sally Hansen polishes, but it's closest to the Insta-dri Brush.

Lacquered Bliss Polish Review

 Hi y'all! I have a review for you all today over Lacquered Bliss Polish. Lara was super awesome and let me into her focus group where we help her tweak and test her polishes until they're just right before release, and she liked my swatches of her two test polishes so much she asked me to be a regular swatcher for her. I was super excited about that, I've never had anyone tell me they like my swatches that much, so that had definitely made my day, big time. This is my first set of polishes from Lara, a Batman Inspired Collection that one of her students was inspired to help her create. I really loved all of these colors so much, and I'm looking forward to her feature releases and swatching them for her! Now, on to the swatches. 

Creations by Lynda Holiday Polish review + custom polish

I have more swatches from Creations By Lynda to show you today! I was lucky enough to be one of the lucky six chosen to review a polish from her upcoming holiday collection, which will be the Southern Belle Collection and is releasing on November 1st, but I think Lynda is taking pre-orders already or will be soon!

The holiday polish I got to review was Flirt which is a glitter topper with different shades and sizes of green glitter along with white glitters. I swatched it here over a similar green shade along with white. I did the white mostly to show the different shades of green glitter best, you can see them for the most part along with the white glitters over the green as well. As usual with Lyndas polishes, the formula was perfect, the glitters applied even and easily without any effort at all, and I actually ended up liking this one much more than I thought I would from seeing her pictures of it. This is one coat shown over white and green with no top coat.

This one is a super special polish. Lynda decided that she would be doing custom polishes for those of us in her product council for all the help we give her, we swatch and review the polishes sent to us, but we also help with giving opinions on certain things when she needs help deciding. And what better way to reward us all but by letting us design our own polish? I'd already had this in mind for quite sometime so I messaged her right away with what I wanted. 

This is Foofy a white crelly polish with brown and orange hexes and black dots. I had a little trouble getting the dots out and on the nail but not too big of a deal as the look they give it is worth it. The inspiration for the polish was my bunny, Foofy, who the polish is obviously named after. The base color is because she's mostly white, and then the glitters represent the spots of different colors in her fur, and the black dots of course for the black spots she has, and also I chose the dots in it so that they would be round like her big round eyes. I love it so much and Lynda did such an awesome job with it. Another bonus? It's perfect for Halloween and fall time which is also my favorite. The formula on this one is the same as all the other's and applied evenly and easily, other than the little effort it took to get the dots, that's mostly expected with larger glitters though. This is three coats shown with Sally Hansen Insta-dri top coat. 

If anyone is thinking about getting a custom polish for someone, or wants one themselves, I would definitely recommend working with Lynda on one. She did so good with mine, and the other ladies in our little council group. She made sure there wasn't any glitter types we didn't like in them, and sent pictures back and forth of different glitters so that we were able to see everything going in and make sure we had a say in what did or didn't go in as well.

My Polish couldn't have come at a better time either, I've been pretty down the last week as I've had a few issues with my foofy that I think she's mostly worked out. But she's my baby and I don't like to see her not feeling her best and knowing I can't afford to do anything for her :( I tried to take a picture of her with her polish but of course she grabbed the bottle, tossed it, and ran back under the bed. Her way of saying, "No mom, I'm napping and don't want to play with your camera right now" So we got this collage of her being super cute while telling me this, haha. 

Kilox Lacquers Swatch and review post!

Today we're taking a small break from all of the Halloween looks this month to bring you a new up and coming Indie brand! And by the way? All of these colors are so much better and prettier in person! 

The Owner, Morgan, was nice enough to send me the entire collection to review for her, and I'm just in love with all of these colors. It's the World Opulence Collection, and they also have one other collection out on their website for purchase called The Rescue Collection. Creations by Lynda swatch and Review

Hi Y'all! I've got a review for you all today over some Creations By Lynda polishes! These are all some pretties and I love them all so much. (Bella is especially my favorite though even if some of the glitters in it gave me some troubles. More on that when I get to it though!) 

Another note, I got new photography table top lights to take my pictures with. I've been wanting them, and with winter coming up, and fall already here, And the bi-polar-ness of texas weather, I won't be able to tell if I'll always have sunlight to take pics in outside or not. And waiting for sunlight would suck. I finally had the money saved up on Amazon and went for these I bought. I think they did help a lot with lighting and coloring of the pictures, but I definitely still need to play a little bit to get everything just right. So if the pictures in this review aren't the best, sorry for that, but they'll hopefully improve as I figure out the best arrangements for the lights and everything. 

Another note? Sorry the labels aren't showing on the bottles in some of the shots, Lynda. I meant for at least the cat to show, and thought they were, until I was editing pictures. Sigh. 

ANYWAYS. On to the swatches now and enough of my rambling. 

NYC New York Color Swatch and Review post

So, I have some more swatches for you today! These were sent to me along with the Sally Hansen ones because they're owned by the same company and when I asked about getting Sally Hansen Samples, I was offered these as well. And I love them. These are my first NYC's in a long time. I wish there were places closer by that sold them around here. My Walgreens doesn't have them, and I always forget to check whenever we go to walmart. But anyways, to the swatches.

The first one we have is Black Lace which is just your standard black cream, Nothing really special at all about it. We also have their Matte Me Crazy Mattifying top coat. Which is AMAZING. Here is two coats of Black Lace and One coat of the Matte Top Coat on the pinky and middle fingers. You can definitely tell a huge difference. I can only really compare it to the Klean Kolors one that I hve as I haven't used any other matte top coats, but this one is soo much better than Klean Kolors one. The one dries quick, really takes the shine away and matte's it out. I love it. I love the formulas on both the black and the top coat as well. They applied evenly and smooth without any effort at all. 

This one is their Sparkle effects top coat. It's listed on the website as Big City Dazzle but there's no name on the bottle, and according to the website, there's only one of these so the name of it isn't really needed unless they add more to the line. It's really pretty, probably better over other colors but I just threw it on over Black Lace. This is two coats on the ring and index fingers, and only one coat on the other nails to compare. I really like it a lot. It was also really easy to apply, went on smooth and the glitter covered evenly without any effort or dabbing where you wanted it to go. 

Last, but now least, we have Wing It Wine which is a coppery colored shimmer polish. It's more bronzing I suppose? I'm not sure how to describe the color, other than I have nothing like it in my collection so I was excited to see it in the package. Those cracks you see by the way, has nothing to do with the polish and everything to do with it not liking the glue base coat, or me being too impatient, I'm not sure which. This color is so pretty though and it went on smooth and even without any effort. This is two coats shown with no top coat.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri swatch and review

Hi ya'll! What's this? An actual blog post? Since when do I do those? 

Haha, it's been a while hasn't it? I promise that's all going to change starting on the first of October. You'll be sick of seeing my posts by the end of October, I promise. 

But that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is swatches! I was lucky enough to get some of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri fall collection colors. I'm pretty sure there's 8 in total, at least from what I could find about them, and the company was kind enough to send me six of the eight polishes in the collection. (yes, there's one missing in the preview collage. I didn't like how it photographed :( )

I'm going to start off saying, based on looking at the bottles, I would never pick up these colors on my own normally. From looking at the bottles, they look like boring frosty shimmers, blah and outdated. I don't know. I just normally prefer jellies/cremes/crellys/glitters and not frosty or shimmers. It just depends on the color sometimes. BUT, I'm rambling for real now. The point? By looking at the bottles these are nothing special and didn't wow me at all. Once they were on the nail though, that definitely changed enough that it made me want to pick up the last two to complete the collection if I were to see them when out.

Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze Limited Edition swatches!

Hey guys! I've been kinda slacking on the blog lately, I know. Part of my break from challenges though. I promise I'm not disappearing or losing interest, I'm just enjoying not having to make sure there's a post up every day!

Yesterday I went to walgreens, really I was looking for this collection, but not at all expecting them to have any of them. But they did! All but one of them at least, and the green was one I really wanted, and it was all out. Sigh. I did grab the other five shades in this collection though and even grabbed one of the eye shadow trios from it. The colors in both the polish and eye shadows are so pretty! And wet n wild eye shadows are always amazing, so I highly recommend those if you like brightly colored eye shadows. But anyways!
